About
Welcome to Gill Hall Gardens

Connecting You to Nature
Gill’s interest in gardens stems from her desire to support and promote greater biodiversity on a local scale. With nearly two decades working on energy and climate issues, along with PhD research into human-nature connections, Gill's journey has inspired a fresh approach to garden design — one that fosters harmony between people and the natural world.
Her passion for developing living spaces that revolve around the experience of the garden has seen her painstakingly undertake renovations of three different properties, exploring the relationship between house and garden in each. She understands commissioning a new garden is an exciting yet complex process, and uses this hands-on experience to make the process of designing and building the garden as enjoyable as possible for her clients.
In designing gardens, her practical and holistic approach reveals to her clients how investing in, stewarding and maintaining a space can not only support the health of the wider ecosystem, but their own health and wellbeing, too.
Biography
To achieve her long-standing ambition, Gill studied with the London College of Garden Design at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, graduating in July 2024. Previously, Gill was a successful management consultant, working with global corporations including IBM and PwC over 20 years leading teams in innovation to take projects from conception ideation stage to delivery.

Gill’s Design Approach
Gill’s design ethos is all about creating gardens and landscapes that draw you in.
By establishing a dialogue between the desires of her clients, the specific features of the site and existing habitat, her work creates thoughtful, layered spaces which reveal their complexity, beauty and intricacies to their inhabitants over the seasons.

Design Principles
Collaborative
Gill takes a personalised approach to every project, working closely with her clients to uncover the deeper meaning their garden holds for them. Whether it's a private sanctuary for cherished memories or a welcoming front garden that creates a sense of arrival, she guides clients through each step of the design and development process, transforming their vision into a living, thriving reality.
Ecological
For each project, inspiration is gathered from the landscape and plant ecology.
This guides the careful consideration of plant associations and use of materials that are in harmony with the local neighbourhood to design a space that is functional, beautiful and high in resources and habitat for wildlife.
Sensitive
Instead of imposing a specific design style, Gill considers the land’s characteristics and requirements to suggest sensitive interventions to conserve existing features, minimise disruption where possible and transform the space to be more complex and biodiverse.
Artistic
Gill’s passion for the art of designing gardens is demonstrated by her in-depth research and synthesis of the atmosphere and characteristics of a space. Each garden is unique, with its own history and site specific conditions, and Gill invests time in researching and understanding the qualities of the garden to develop highly creative and artistic design responses to each client brief.
