The client was looking at solutions to manage river flooding throughout the year at the same time as creating a more sustainable landscape, in tune with the local environment.

The design includes a wetland system with pond and reed beds to manage water during floods. Tree-lined walkways by the river create spaces for forest bathing. New outdoor spaces next to indoor meeting rooms create extra locations for weddings, parties and conferences. A playground under the trees with a wildlife zone gives children the chance to play and explore in nature. The entrance is forested to screen the road, clean the air and create a beautiful and welcoming green arrival experience at the hotel.
